Ukraine’s Starlink and Starshield systems have been restored to full operational speed, with connections now supporting speeds over 400 km/h. The restoration follows a period of limited capacity since mid-October, which hindered Ukraine’s ability to defend against Russian drones and coordinate military operations.
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the restoration, stating speeds are now sufficient for frontline logistics and defense against jet-powered drones. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported stable connections, attributing the improvement to direct dialogue with the Trump administration.
The U.S. Senate is investigating the restrictions, with Senator Richard Blumenthal launching a probe into who ordered the speed caps. UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham also raised the issue with Trump, emphasizing the critical need for Ukraine to maintain full access to Starlink for defense.
Ukrainian officials and U.S. lawmakers continue to seek clarity on the restrictions, with Trump suggesting he may have ordered SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to lift the speed limits. However, no public entity has officially taken responsibility for the restrictions or their resolution.
