U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff arrives in St. Petersburg for talks with Putin amid ongoing war with Russia. Ukraine's leader, Zelensky, hopes the meeting will pave way for trilateral leaders' meeting. Trump has questioned the need for such a meeting.
Witkoff met with Zelensky and European allies in Oslo before arriving in Russia. The meeting with Putin is scheduled for Wednesday. Zelensky has accused the U.S. of withholding intelligence sharing, but Washington denies the claims. Putin's foreign policy adviser confirmed the meeting is scheduled.
Zelensky says intelligence sharing with U.S. now works, and security guarantees are discussed. Ukraine's military reports speed restrictions on Starlink drones. Relations between Ukraine and the U.S. have soured, with Trump suggesting Ukraine needs a new leader.
Putin's foreign minister says the Kremlin will listen to Witkoff but will not make political concessions. Russian drone attacks continue, with multiple casualties reported. Zelensky hopes the talks will lead to a resolution of the conflict.
