Trump urges Ukraine to agree to deal with Russia as civilian casualties rise

Filed · 3 publisher pages · upstream origin unresolved

President Trump urged Ukraine to agree to a deal with Russia, calling for a resolution after relations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky soured. Trump criticized Russia's actions, stating the U.S. has given much to Ukraine but received only grief and loss.

Trump's comments came as tensions rose between Kyiv and Washington after U.S. actions limited Ukraine's ability to intercept Russian attacks. The U.S. stopped warning Kyiv of incoming Russian missiles and restricted the use of Starshield, a military version of Starlink, for Ukraine.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported a recent drone strike that killed six, including a one-year-old girl, in the Kharkiv region. Zelensky described the attack as an 'absolute atrocity,' while Trump deemed it 'fine.'

The U.S. is negotiating with Russia to release Stephen Hubbard, an American man jailed in Russia, as part of broader peace talks. Trump has been in contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin to secure Hubbard's release, signaling a potential resolution within days.
