Trump administration allows CNN, MS Now, Politico back into White House as legal battle continues

Filed · 3 publisher pages · upstream origin unresolved

White House resumes coverage of Trump's events as legal battle over media restrictions continues. CNN, MS Now, and Politico were barred from the White House complex but their access was reinstated after a federal judge ruled the ban likely unconstitutional.

The three outlets were barred from the White House after Trump accused them of reporting false or negative stories. Their access was reinstated on Sept 24 after a federal judge deemed the ban likely unconstitutional and ordered their access to be immediately restored.

The legal battle over the ban continues as the court has not yet resolved the main challenge to the ban, based on the First Amendment of the US Constitution that protects the right to free speech and a free press.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment about the restored press access, while the three outlets now have until Sept 28 to ask the judge to keep their access in place while the case moves forward.
