The Republički fond za penziono i invalidsko osiguranje (PIO fund) has announced a contest for a new director, with current director Relja Ognjenović facing scrutiny as his term ends. The contest, published in Politika, requires candidates to have a high-level education in economics or law and at least six years of professional experience.
Ognjenović, born in 1990 in Prizren, has a master's degree from the University of Pristina and holds several certifications, including one from the University of Beograd on encouraging entrepreneurial spirit among youth. He has served as a chairman of the Voždovac City Council on road safety and has been with the PIO fund since 2014.
Potpredsednica of the Stranke slobode i pravde (SSP), Marinika Tepić, has accused Ognjenović of misusing public funds and manipulating elections by falsely registering employees of the PIO fund. Ognjenović has denied these allegations, calling them a political strategy that undermines his work and the success of the institution.
The contest for the director of the PIO fund is open for submissions within 15 days of its publication in the Official Gazette. The new director will be appointed for a four-year term, and the current director, Ognjenović, will step down in February 2027.
