Paris saw another day of yellow vests protests as the fourth consecutive week of demonstrations intensified, with over 1.6 million people participating in the national mobilization called by unions. The movement, centered in Paris, aims to pressure the government on issues of rising living costs and youth concerns.
The movement is split into two groups: one led by young students and union representatives, calling for a peaceful march from the Republic to the Nation squares, and another group of yellow vests, who have chosen to gather separately at the Concourt, where authorities have banned any activity. The two groups are clearly showing their distance from each other and the unions.
The government has reinforced security measures, deploying 70,000 police and gendarmes, along with 25 armored vehicles and 15 water launchers, to prevent any unrest. The government is also preparing for a social conference with unions and employers, aimed at addressing the concerns of the French public about rising living costs and income inequality.
