Nine women's bodies found in South Africa as police probe potential serial killer

Filed · 3 publisher pages · upstream origin unresolved

Nine women's bodies have been found in South Africa within two months, prompting police to investigate a potential serial killer. The latest body was found in Dawn Park, raising concerns about a string of unexplained deaths east of Johannesburg.

The ninth body was found wrapped in a sheet on the side of the road in Dawn Park, with the victim believed to be in her 30s and showing signs of bruising and stab wounds. Eight other women's bodies have been found since July across Ekurhuleni, a major urban area of Johannesburg.

South African police have assembled a multidisciplinary team to investigate the deaths and determine if there are links between the cases. President Cyril Ramaphosa has vowed to ensure no stone is left unturned in finding those behind the killings, which have caused fear and uncertainty in communities.

Authorities have offered a 400,000 rand reward for information leading to arrests and have urged women to remain vigilant about their personal safety, advising against walking alone or using isolated routes and to share their location with someone they trust.
