Mladić, Bosnian Serb War Criminal, Dies at 84

Filed · 3 publisher pages · upstream origin unresolved

The UN Court has confirmed the death of Mladić, a convicted Bosnian Serb war criminal who was held at The Hague detention facility since 2011.

Mladić, who never recognized the UN court, was held in a state of bedbound or in a wheelchair for a long time and later suffered a suspected stroke that left him almost unable to speak.

The court's top judge ordered a full inquiry into the circumstances of Mladić's death, following a bid for his release from jail as he was nearing the end of his life.

Mladić's lawyers said at the time that he had already been bedbound or in a wheelchair for a long time and later had suffered a suspected stroke that left him almost unable to speak.
