Major TV networks suspend Trump coverage amid White House ban

Filed · 3 publisher pages · upstream origin unresolved

Major U.S. broadcasters ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC halted TV pool coverage of President Trump following a White House ban. The decision follows a Friday announcement by Trump restricting access to the White House for CNN, Politico and MSNOW.

The ban led to a joint statement from the networks, condemning the restriction as an overreach. The three outlets filed a lawsuit Monday, arguing the ban violates First Amendment rights. Trump accused the outlets of 'fake news' and 'left propaganda'.

Vice President JD Vance defended the ban as a matter of 'basic fairness', stating the outlets can still report on the White House but are excluded from the complex. Reporters for the outlets continue to film from street corners near the White House.

The dispute highlights tensions between media access and presidential authority, with legal and journalistic implications for future coverage of the White House.
