Jordanian security forces arrested three suspects linked to a deadly attack on a Greek Orthodox church that killed nine people. The suspects were wounded during a dawn shootout with security forces in the Karak governorate.
The arrests followed a confrontation at an abandoned house where the suspects were discovered hiding. All three were injured in the operation, but no security personnel were harmed. The Public Security Directorate confirmed the suspects are under investigation and have no known ties to Islamist militant groups.
Jordan's Interior Minister said the suspects were identified early and that security forces used all available means to apprehend them. The attack has prompted a renewed focus on counterterrorism, with officials emphasizing that extremist ideologies will not be tolerated.
The attack occurred during a Christian funeral in the village of Hamoud, and 34 others were wounded. The suspects are believed to have no connections to other cells, though investigations continue.
