Israeli police have arrested 10 suspects linked to violent attacks on a US photojournalist and European diplomats in the West Bank. The incidents, which occurred over the weekend, have raised concerns about rising settler violence in the region.
Settlers attacked Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine during a Palestinian olive harvest, leaving her with broken vertebrae. The following day, settlers also targeted a convoy of European diplomats and a French mayor visiting the area, according to Israeli police.
The attacks come as Israel faces heightened scrutiny over its handling of settler violence, with at least 170 incidents reported since September 27. Israeli human rights group Yesh Din has highlighted that only 3% of past investigations into such violence have resulted in convictions.
Israeli officials have blamed 'Israeli rioters' for the attacks, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for further investigation into the incidents, which are set to occur ahead of crucial October 27 elections.
