Houthis claim strikes on Riyadh and Saudi oil facilities

Filed · 3 publisher pages · upstream origin unresolved

Houthis claim to have launched ballistic missiles and drones at Riyadh and oil facilities in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. Saudi authorities intercepted and destroyed a missile, but confirmed no casualties or further strikes.

Houthis said the attacks were in response to Saudi strikes on Sanaa, which they denied. The attacks came days after Saudi accused Houthis of targeting Mecca, which the rebels dismissed as a false claim. An air raid alert was issued, the first since July.

The conflict between Houthis and the Saudi-backed Yemeni government has escalated, with both sides reporting casualties. The Houthis said 31 fighters were killed, while government sources said 17 were lost. The situation has led to a maritime blockade and disrupted global shipping routes.

The Houthis have attacked Saudi targets multiple times, including downing a Saudi fighter jet over Yemen. The conflict has displaced over 104,796 people, according to a UN report.
