Houthi attacks kill 3 in Riyadh airport, disrupt flights

Filed · 3 publisher pages · upstream origin unresolved

Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia's Riyadh airport killed three people and injured dozens, leading to widespread flight cancellations. The attacks, which targeted both the airport and a Saudia aircraft, have caused significant disruptions to air travel.

The attacks occurred on Thursday, with the Houthis claiming to have launched ballistic missiles at the airport. The General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that three civilians were killed and 36 injured in attacks at Abha and King Khalid airports.

The incidents have prompted airlines to cancel hundreds of flights to Riyadh, with Singapore Airlines delaying its route launch to the city. The conflict has also led to increased tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, with the latter accusing the kingdom of supporting the Yemeni government.

The Houthi group has warned aviation companies to avoid using Saudi airspace, stating that any aircraft operating there, except over Mecca and Medina, is a target. The Saudi-led coalition has also destroyed rocket launch platforms used by the Houthis to threaten regional security.
