Family of Renee Good, a 37-year-old woman killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, has filed two lawsuits against the U.S. government and Trump administration officials. The lawsuits allege federal officials conspired to use excessive force against protesters during a immigration operation.
The lawsuits, filed by Good's brother Brent Ganger and partner Becca Good, accuse the government of 'intentional infliction of emotional distress' and 'negligence' that led to Good's death. One lawsuit names ICE officer Jonathan Ross and Trump administration officials including Stephen Miller and Kristi Noem.
The deaths of Good and another Minneapolis resident Alex Pretti sparked nationwide protests and led to the withdrawal of federal agents from the city. The lawsuits seek accountability and allege a 'conspiracy to interfere with civil rights' by senior officials and federal agents.
The White House has called the lawsuits 'baseless' and said the government will 'vigorously defend' them. The family's lawyer accused the government of creating an 'unprecedented environment for state-sponsored violence' during the immigration operation.
