Estonia confirmed Russia ordered an August arson attack on its defense firm Milrem Robotics, a key supplier of unmanned vehicles to Ukraine. The fire, which broke out in Tallinn’s Lasnamae district, was linked to Russian security services, with three suspects arrested in Latvia and handed over to Estonian authorities.
The Estonian government, citing information from its Internal Security Service, stated the attack was a sabotage act commissioned by Russian intelligence. The incident aligns with other alleged Russian-backed sabotage in Europe, including a failed drone attack on Germany’s Leipzig Airport.
Estonia will summon the Russian envoy and continue pressuring Moscow through sanctions and travel restrictions. The move underscores ongoing tensions between NATO and Russia, with Estonia and its allies vowing to respond to what they call 'hostile, irresponsible, and dangerous' activity.
Russia has denied all allegations of hybrid operations in Europe, with its embassy in Tallinn remaining silent on the matter. The case highlights a growing concern among NATO members about escalating Russian threats to allied territories.
