Savet REM has banned TV Informer from broadcasting the "Prve info" program for seven days, citing a severe violation of the law. The decision was made during a meeting where all members voted in favor. The program, which featured a journalist expressing a political stance during an election campaign, was deemed to have caused significant legal harm. The ban was announced by REM, a regulatory body overseeing media in Serbia.
Dragan Vučićević, the head of Informer, accused REM of acting on political grounds, claiming the body is influenced by the winning list of the October 25 parliamentary elections. He alleged that REM is attempting to silence Informer and warned that he would take legal action against both the regulatory body and Serbia if the ban is enforced. Vučićević also criticized the lack of signatures on the report and the negative remarks made by the head of state about REM members.
The regulatory body has initiated legal proceedings against Informer and other media outlets for alleged violations during the election campaign. The proceedings include accusations of making offensive comments about Zoran Gavrilović and Rodoljub Šabić, members of REM. Additionally, the broadcast of a state documentary film during the "Kolegijum" program is under investigation. The regulatory body has also approved the draft regulations for the appointment of members of the governing body of Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS).
