British adventurer Karl Bushby has completed a 28-year journey around the world, arriving back in Hull, England, after walking 50,000 kilometers without motorized transport. He faced numerous challenges, including bureaucratic hurdles and natural obstacles, during his expedition.
Bushby, 57, began his journey in Chile in 1998 and traveled through the Americas, Russia, Mongolia, and Europe, swimming across the Caspian Sea and the English Channel. He faced detention in Panama and Russia, and delays from the 2008 financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.
A documentary about his journey is in production, and Bushby plans to start a speaking tour in England. His trip, which he initially thought would take 12 years, was extended due to various obstacles, including visa issues and logistical challenges.
Bushby emphasized the support he received from strangers and nations, stating that 'the kindness of strangers, so many, from individuals to nation-states, to get me back here today.'
