Belgium will deliver three F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by year-end, Ukrainian President Zelenskiy announced, aiming to bolster air defense amid ongoing conflict with Russia.
Zelenskiy confirmed the transfer, citing an agreement with Belgium, and highlighted urgent deliveries of F-16 ammunition from Belgium and Spain. He also noted the arrival of a NASAMS air defense system jointly developed by the U.S. and Norway.
The move comes as Ukraine seeks to secure a steady supply of Patriot missiles for air defense and improve interceptors against Russian drones. Zelenskiy emphasized the need for continued efforts to counter rising drone threats.
