How the News Observatory is measured
The observatory measures eligible full-text articles. It does not measure search snippets, feed summaries, or headlines by themselves.
What one observation means
One article document is one unit. We use the publisher timestamp when it is available and the first observation time otherwise. All chart boundaries use UTC. Missing periods are omitted instead of being drawn as zero.
What is directly counted
Article, publisher, paragraph, sentence, token, and coverage counts come from the acquired document. Model-produced semantic values stay separate, keep their raw 0 to 100 scale, and are not presented as probabilities or ground truth.
How to read the chart
Choose an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly resolution. Bucket view summarizes the articles in each period. Article view shows pseudonymous observations individually without exposing article text, URLs, publisher identities, or evidence spans.
